The Real Andalucia – The Land of Contrasts
The tour is designed for people who would like to know about sherry culture, wine, brandy, horses, flamenco, the white village route and gastronomy. It features Jerez and its surroundings, visiting Gonzalez Byass, a superb winery with a splendid tasting of Fino, sherry and brandies.
Accommodation and restaurants will be chosen depending on the group or individual budget and carefully selected to take into account architecture, decoration, facilities and service. All lodging is in historic buildings such as palaces, monasteries, castles and small well-decorated private hotels, which cater for all personal preferences.
Day 1
Arrival at Jerez or Seville airport.
Depending on the number of people in the party, a car, minibus or coach will take you to a hotel in Puerto Santa Maria or Jerez in Andalucia.
Free evening.
Day 2
After breakfast, visit to Alcazar in Jerez, one of the oldest and most important monuments of the Arab legacy.
Equestrian show: Amazing horse ballet accompanied by Spanish music and 18th century costumes. A world-class unique show only available in Andalucia.
After the equestrian show, you will have a gourmet lunch at Mirador in Sanlucar Bay restaurant overlooking the sea. Travel to Sanlucar, the fishing port where Christopher Columbus set sail to discover America. Sanlucar is famous for beach Horse-racing and Manzanilla wine, a very good accompaniment to seafood.
Private wine and sherry tasting at Barbadillo Estate in Sanlucar. The owner will take you through the whole range of sherries and brandies and you will enjoy a guided tour of the family wine museum.
Free evening.
Bars and restaurant will be recommended.
Day 3
After breakfast visit to the Gonzalez Byass wine estate in Jerez. A guided walk around the vineyards followed by a wine and brandy tasting. The estate offers superb quality brandies which are popular with heads of states, monarchs and celebrities. A boat trip to Cadiz, one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Gourmet lunch at a Catering school, where many Michelin chefs started their careers.
Guided walking tour of the old quarter in Cadiz, a city famous for its sandy beaches, great variety of architecture (Roman and Arab), its astonishing location and excellent food including a variety of tapas.
Evening: Flamenco show.
Day 4
After breakfast, travel to the airport for the homeward journey
